Celebrity Libraries

I have found another great post to share, when it comes to my not-so-secret obsession, libraries!!

I would like to thank Wallace Yovetich from BookRiot for her post. It was so good I had to steal it and share it with all my followers as well! 🙂 You can follow Wallace on Twitter @BookishWallace.

Here are some extremely impressive libraries from celebrities homes.

Karl Lagerfield’s Personal Library

This is a whole lot of books!! I could not be more jealous! I wish I could pick through them, and see what Karl has been reading. I wonder how he gets to the books at the top of the pile?

******

Diane Keaton’s Personal Library

Just what I’ve always wanted! A library with a ladder!! Absolutely stunning!

******

Woody Allen’s Personal Library

I think I might be catching up to Woody Allen with the amount of books I have.

******

Keith Richards’ Personal Library

This room is so inspirational. From books to vinyls I can see why Keith would want to spend a lot of time in this room.

******

William Randolph Hearst’s Library

Being the owner of The New York Journal apparently comes with some perks. This library put most to shame.

******

Oprah Winfrey’s Personal Library

Having your own book club, you would assume she would be a true bibliophile. And I was right!

Royal Library of Belgium

I have written blogs before on some of the world’s most beautiful libraries and specifically the Kansas City library (click ’Libraries’ on the right, to check them out), but this post blew me away this morning! The images are absolutely beautiful!! I am adding the Royal Library of Belgium on my list of top places in the world I would like to see. Thanks Sleepless Reader for allowing me to discover such an amazing place!

The Sleepless Reader

I’m a bit lazy today, so I’ll just post a few photos of a recent night visit to the Royal Library of Belgium.

The garden by night (the Library is the building on the left).

Each locker is dedicated to a Belgian author.

Exhibition commemorating the 150th anniversary of the publicaiton of Les Misérables. A Belgian first edition in 10 volumes.

The Librarium, a permanent exhibition space on the history of books, writing and libraries.

Kansas City Library! Absolutely Amazing!!!

I have been looking into libraries around the world, ever since my first post (10 of the Worlds’s Most Beautiful Libraries – see below), and I discovered the Kansas City Library! I don’t think I have seen such an amazing building in my entire life!

I believe this is the solution to get more children to read! Who wouldn’t want to run inside this amazing building, made out of books, and start diving into all the amazing literature that the library has to offer!

I am in love with this library!! Take a look for yourself!! Enjoy!!

10 of the World’s Most Beautiful Libraries!

Ever since 1991, the year Beauty and the Beast came to theatres, I have always had a fondness for libraries. (It’s the same feeling I get walking into Chapters, but better, because I can read library books for free!) If you’ve seen it, then you will know which scene I am referring to. But for those of you that haven’t, it is the scene where Beast blindfolds Belle, and leads her to a large dark room, where Beast begins to pulls back the drapes, exposing the sun to the multitude of never-ending bookshelves. There are books lining the walls, top to bottom, with the walls exceeding 50 feet in height. I get goosebumps just thinking about the first time I saw it! Ever since then, I have wanted a library of my own. A room filled with all my favourite authors, with the only part of the wall you can see, being the ceiling. That was the dream, and now that I am older, I know it will have to stay that way. But that does not mean I cannot discover other magnificent libraries that remember me of the one in Beauty and the Beast. And on that note here they are!!

                                                Abbey Library St. Gallen, Switzerland

Real Gabinete Portugues De Leitura, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

Trinity College Library, aka The Long Room, Dublin, Ireland

This one is my absolute favourite!! It looks like a reflection on the water. With the warm wood on the top and the cool colours down below. Absolutely beautiful!

Melk Monastery Library, Melk, Austria

Rijkmuseum Library, Amsterdam

Strahov Monastery – Theological Library, Prague, Czech Republic

Biblioteca Geral University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal

Wiblingen Monastary Library, Ulm, Germany

Library of the Benedictine Monastery of Admont, Austria George Peabody Library, Baltimore, Maryland, USA

In my research for amazing libraries I found so many fascinating images, from private libraries to more enticing libraries as well. So I have decided to keep this section, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Coming up soon, I will be doing a profile on a billionaires private library that will absolutely blow your mind!!
